Twenty Kingston Road, Staines
Client: Boultbee Brooks Estates Limited
Architect: SPPARC Architecture
Contractor: BWI
Value: £6 million
Twenty Kingston Road is the comprehensive refurbishment of a six-story office building in the centre of Staines into an efficient, high-quality landmark that meets the performance and efficiency needs of modern-day businesses.
Perega was appointed to assist with the upgrading works for the 45,000 sq. ft. building. The work included infilling the four-story glazed atrium with new office floors, re-configuring the staircases and re-locating shear walls to improve the footprint of floors on every level.
The building has been totally transformed with large, uniform floor plates providing flexible office space, floor-to-ceiling glazed elevations and a new high specification reception area.
Sustainability was at the forefront of the refurbishment. The building’s windows, walls and roof have been upgraded to minimise heat loss and unwanted air leakage, providing an excellent standard of energy performance. High daylight levels in the office areas exceed BREEAM requirements and help reduce the need for artificial lighting.
As a result of its outstanding energy efficiency, the building has achieved BREEAM’s highest rating of Excellent.
