Surrey Sports Park

Perega was commissioned by the University of Surrey in Guildford to work on a number of projects at the campus’ state-of-the-art sports park, including the creation of two additional sports terraces, earthworks to the playing fields, and additional facilities for the increasingly high profile events being held at the venue.

The second sports terrace is large enough to contain three full-size rugby pitches. Perega’s design included a maintenance track running between the new terrace and the existing one, as well as a pre-cast seating area. A third terrace is also underway.

In working on the existing pitch, Perega re-profiled the sloping ground, literally creating a level playing field! The team has also provided consultancy and design services for an additional field, undertaking a substantial cut and fill exercise, using 3D modelling software, to obtain the optimum finished level. The design included deep trench soakaways to ensure that surface water infiltrated into the underlying chalk providing adequate drainage to the terraces.

Perega is also currently designing the drainage for new accommodation at the university’s student village, Manor Park.
