Alan is a chartered structural engineer with more than 40 years’ experience, working in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Caribbean and Far East.

He specialises in the refurbishment, remodelling and repurposing of heritage buildings and has built up a wealth of expertise in the retail, leisure and commercial sectors for clients such as Debenhams, British Land and Crown Estate Retail Parks. Alan is a skilled expert witness as well as advising on party wall awards.

He was once appointed to conduct structural surveys of around 100 clothing factories in Bangladesh following the 2013 collapse of the Rana Plaza complex in Dhaka, the worst industrial building disaster in recent times.
