Perega Shapes Jacquemus’ Vision for Iconic New Bond Street Store

Perega’s structural engineering team is currently immersed in an exciting retail project for French luxury fashion house Jacquemus, which is opening its first UK headquarters and flagship store on New Bond Street. This prestigious location will be its second standalone site globally, following its Paris boutique on Avenue Montaigne.

Jacquemus' first UK store on New Bond Street in London.

Set within a 6,278 sq ft space over five floors, Jacquemus is joining the ranks of other renowned brands such as Fendi, Balenciaga, and Gucci who we also provided engineering consultancy for on their boutique, just down the road!

Since starting work in December last year, Perega has been instrumental in helping to reshape the building’s internal structure to reflect Jacquemus’ signature minimalist style, including a sparse display layout and geometric themes that change across floors. Our team has carried out thorough on-site investigations to confirm several of the internal walls could be completely removed whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the building. The existing floor structure was also assessed to support the weight of the new stone flooring.

One of the challenges our team faced involved the extension of the store’s existing cantilevered spiral staircase. Originally rising from the basement to the first floor, the project called for this intricate feature to be extended up to the second. As the staircase is embedded within the brickwork with no other support, we had to assess whether the existing wall and stair could withstand the additional load. The team oversaw the cutting back of part of the existing wall and the installation of new steelwork, safeguarding both the new staircase and the building’s structure.

Our senior structural engineer on the project, Chris Fewson, says, “The complexity of the structure required unique solutions, and our experience in luxury retail has been invaluable in addressing the challenges. We’re proud to play a central role in bringing Jacquemus’ vision to life, and with completion expected around Christmas 2024, the store is set to be an iconic addition to the brand’s growing global presence, offering London shoppers a luxurious, bespoke retail experience.”
