Perega earns Anti-Greenwash Charter certification: Our commitment to transparent sustainability

We are proud to announce that Perega has become a certified signatory of the The Anti-Greenwash Charter. This makes us one of the first consulting civil engineering and structural engineering firms in the UK to receive this independent, third-party validation for the integrity and transparency of our sustainability communications.

The journey to certification was an in-depth, three-month assessment process that included comprehensive staff training and independent evaluation against the Charter’s four core standards: transparency, accountability, fairness and honesty.

The Anti-Greenwash Charter

A core requirement of the certification was the creation of a comprehensive Green Claims Policy, now publicly available on our website. This policy establishes clear protocols for all our environmental communications, ensuring that technical claims related to areas like carbon calculations and low-carbon material specifications are backed by irrefutable, independently verifiable data. The policy fully aligns with regulatory frameworks, including the CMA Green Claims Code, Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) guidelines, ISO 14021 (Environmental Labels and Declarations), and the EU Green Claims Directive.

Emma Neal, Head of Marketing at Perega, said: “Achieving certified signatory status reinforces our commitment to responsible communication. As a trusted civil and structural engineering partner across many sectors, including healthcare, education and retail, we recognise the importance of backing our sustainability claims with accurate, evidence-based data. This certification provides our clients with third-party validation that our environmental communications meet the highest standards of integrity and build total confidence.”

Monika Rogers, Associate and Net Zero Carbon Lead at Perega, added: “This certification sets us apart as civil and structural engineers. By opening ourselves to external scrutiny from a respected independent body, we’re demonstrating a genuine commitment to responsible sustainability communication. It not only mitigates the risk of ambiguity or scepticism, but significantly builds stakeholder confidence amongst our clients, partners and employees.”

The Anti-Greenwash Charter’s certified signatory programme provides ongoing campaign reviews and guidance, ensuring we maintain the highest standards in our sustainability messaging as regulations and best practices evolve.
