During his year as President, Nick recorded a series of significant achievements.

He presided over the five-year strategic plan and oversaw the Institution’s successful relocation, after 76 years, into superb new premises in Bastwick Street, east London.

To give greater support to those working in small practices, he helped to found the Sole Traders Group.

Nick visited all but one of the Regional Groups across the UK and travelled extensively overseas to the United States, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore. As well as helping to introduce new examinations in China and Singapore to test structural engineers’ competency, Nick also lectured extensively to over 2,000 engineering students around the world, helping to bring their learning to life.

Nick comments: “It has been a huge privilege to serve the Institution as its 94th President and undoubtedly the summit of my 28 years’ active involvement. I look forward to maintaining my close involvement with the Institution and wish Tim Ibell every success.”
