CABI & Blossom Court stand victorious at 2021 CE SECBE Awards

Two recent construction projects, on which Perega was involved as the structural engineering and civil engineering partner, have won prestigious CE SECBE awards.

The award scheme, formally known as the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards, recognises the very best in building across London and the South East. A hotly contested accolade, the programme celebrates the very best the region has to offer.

The 2021 edition saw a number of ambitious, innovative and skilfully built projects shortlisted. Out of a very strong playing field, CABI’s new Headquarters in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, picked-up the prize for Building Project of the Year <£10M. Blossom Court, St. Ann’s Hospital, Haringey, London, received the award for Best Building Project of the Year >£10M.

The two winning developments showcase the substantial amount of hard work that has gone into them and the considerable ability of the design teams involved. This includes the extensive knowledge, expertise and capabilities of those engineers involved, and highlights their unrivalled ability to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders at every level of the construction journey.

Offering a snapshot of the winning projects, CABI’s (Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International) new headquarters, completed in autumn 2020, saw our engineers provide full civil, structural and glass engineering services and consultancy.

A particular highlight was our involvement in the creation of the building’s massive living roof, where we helped design an innovative and robust steel structure to support the weight of the soil and turf.

For Blossom Court, St. Ann’s Hospital, a brand new mental health residential facility, Perega delivered a range of structural and civil engineering services.

Primarily, our role involved developing the designs for essential drainage and attenuation systems across Blossom Court’s extensive and complex site. Additionally, the team assisted in adapting existing roads to suit the new building layout and to accommodate future renovations and site expansion.
