Thomasons continues its successful partnership with Nando’s
Thomasons continues its ongoing work with world-famous restaurant chain Nando’s, following an original appointment for structural engineering consultancy in March 2017. The practice was commissioned for its expertise on the installation of hanging ceilings, a complex process which requires acute attention to detail.
With some of the structures weighing up to three tonnes, all parties involved in the project needed to be extremely careful to ensure these were fitted securely.
In some cases, this required onsite adaptation of existing designs to ensure the components were installed safely.
One particularly challenging project is at the new restaurant in New Mersey Retail Park, Liverpool where we are installing 22 individual steel features made of reinforcement rods, suspended from the ceiling. Commenting on working with Nando’s, Darren Williams, Associate, says: “Each project is unique, mirroring the brief of the client to deliver restaurants which have their own identities. Of course, this requires our team to tailor its approach for each and every project. Our work with Nando’s perfectly showcases Thomasons’ ability to be flexible and adapt to impromptu structural changes within the design brief.”
Currently, five builds have been completed across the UK with three still in progress.
