Winning our largest ever healthcare contract – at Chase Farm Hospital, Enfield
Thomasons has been appointed as structural and civil engineers for Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield, North London. The contract, as part of this £200 million project, is the largest ever secured by our London office.
Full planning consent has recently been granted to replace existing outdated hospital buildings with a new build hospital that will deliver world-class care facilities. It will include a range of wards, theatres, urgent care centre, day surgery, outpatient ambulatory care zone, imaging, diagnostics and supporting facilities, together with a new energy centre and car park extension.
The project is managed by Integrated Healthcare Projects, under the NHS ProCure21+ National Framework, with Thomasons as a Principal Supply Chain Member. Working as part of a team with architects IBI Group and building services engineers Troup Bywaters + Anders, our engineers are designing the sub-structure and super-structure of the new hospital building, as well as the underground surface water and foul water drainage, estate roads and a new junction on to the public highway.
The team’s leading innovative design has been developed in consultation with all departments and clinicians, and includes flexible options that will allow service changes to be introduced in future.
Thomasons has extensive expertise in the health care sector. Our current projects include the alteration and extension of the emergency department at Croydon University Hospital; the extension of the children’s Rainbow Ward at Newham University Hospital in east London and, at Whipps Cross University Hospital, the expansion of the outpatient theatres and conversion of an existing ward into a high dependency unit. Thomasons is also working on a major refurbishment at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and, as part of the AECOM-led design team, the proposed redevelopment of Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
