New appointment with Integrated Health Projects (IHP)

Expanding on their existing services, St. Ann’s Hospital in Haringey is undergoing an overall site development, which includes an £18 million mental healthcare residential facility. Working with Integrated Health Projects (IHP), Thomasons has been appointed as civil and structural engineers for the new building under the Department of Health’s new ProCure22 (P22) Construction Procurement Framework.

The proposed facility is comprised of three-storeys, featuring three mental health wards on the top floor and an eating disorder ward on the lower two floors.

Along with the new building, the redevelopment involves improving pedestrian access to the site, adapting existing roads to suit the new building layout as well as accommodate future renovations and site extensions. To support the sale of part of the site for residential development, Thomasons is creating a drainage strategy and initial road design for planning consent.

Associate and Civil Engineer Ash Ashfaq comments: “It is fantastic to be able to build on the pre-planning road and drainage strategy work we did for Royal Free Trust at Chase Farm Hospital and transfer the knowledge and benefit of our experience there to help Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust do the same at St Ann’s.”

Mark Miller, senior engineer and structures lead for the project, adds: “At times, the fast-paced programmes have been challenging to meet, but we have delivered everything that we committed to do on time. I’m proud of that.”

Design practice Medical Architecture and Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers are also working on the project, managed by IHP.
