Remodelling of a Victorian warehouse in King’s Cross completed

Works to regenerate and extend an industrial warehouse building at 15 Crinan Street, in the prestigious Conservation Area of King’s Cross, have recently been completed to provide 7,700 sq. ft. of modern office space. Thomasons was appointed by owners CBRE Global Investors as structural engineers on the project, working with architects Gpad.

Dating from the late Victorian era, the three-storey building was originally a diamond workshop. The existing structure of this un-refurbished building was taken back to the original shell; structural repairs and new drainage were implemented, together with the installation of a new lift, staircase and cloakrooms core, designed to optimise the office floor areas.

The building was extended with the addition of a new fourth floor and roof terrace, while original features – such as cast-iron columns supporting the steel beams and timber joist floors, and brickwork on the perimeter wall – were retained and exposed to celebrate the industrial character of the warehouse.

15 Crinan Street is expected to appeal to creative businesses seeking unusual office space with period charm.
