The Curve, Slough

Client: Colorminium

Glazing Contractor: Colorminium

Architect: bblur architecture

Value: £22 million

The Curve, Slough’s new flagship library and cultural centre, is the centerpiece of the ‘Heart of Slough’ regeneration scheme.

Opened in late 2016, this 4450m² building is at the heart of the community with a state-of-the-art library, café, performance venue and space for cultural events and community groups to meet.

Sited adjacent to a listed church, The Curve is designed as a silver arc. Colorminium was responsible for the detailed design of the building envelope and commissioned Perega to design the glazing elements.

This challenging project required large span facetted mullions to follow the organic shape of the building profile. At each end of the building are fully glazed façades with large door openings and external solar shading.

Perega also designed the bespoke aluminium rainscreen, which was very complex owing to the curved shape of the building.
