Rivington House, Shoreditch
Client: Boultbee Brooks Real Estate
Architect: Gpad
Value: £7.5 million
Perega acted as structural engineers in the substantial extension and refurbishment of Rivington House in Shoreditch into superb office space.
This impressive Victorian yellow brick building dates from around 1900 and was formerly a garment factory. It is sited in a prominent location at the gateway to Shoreditch.
The space was extended with the addition of two new levels, with external feature terraces, to create an eight-storey building. The original cast iron columns were replaced with new steel columns to facilitate extra loading from the two new floors.
The substantial refurbishment involved stripping the building back to its shell and redeveloping it to a very high standard with exposed, energy efficient services. Other works included installing a new lift and stair core, replacing the full-height windows, raising access flooring and undertaking a general Category A office fit out.
The project was completed in less than 42 weeks.
