Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge

Client: Harvey Nichols

Contractor: Portview

Perega have been involved with Harvey Nichols for a number of years providing them with structural advice on modification and additions to their flagship store in Knightsbridge.

New retail floor layouts, M&E alterations and maintenance issues have all required structural input that is both responsive and complimentary to the stores operations and interior designers responsible for enhancing the retail experience at Harvey Nichols.

Menswear Department

Perega acted as structural engineers on a major project to refurbish the store. The initial phase has been completed with the unveiling of a superb new menswear department.

The department covers 28,000 sq. ft. across two basement levels and has been totally transformed. Our engineers created the structural designs for an opening in the floor for a new escalator, for lowering a section of the basement floor and extending an existing lift shaft.

A significant structural shear wall was also removed to give customers clearer vision across the sales floor.

In addition, we designed a new stair core that will extend throughout six levels of the store and is being installed floor-by-floor as each phase of the refurbishment work is complete.

Beauty & Accessories Department

Work has also finished on the major overhaul of the store’s beauty and accessories department on the ground floor. Thomasons again removed the shear core to improve visibility and extend the new stair core.

Work is planned in the future to continue the refurbishment of the remaining floors.
