Dixons Carphone, Various Locations
Client: Dixons Carphone
Perega has been retained by Dixons Retail for over 20 years, advising on structural alterations, extensions and fit-out works to its stores across the UK before and since the company merged with Carphone Warehouse Group.
Over the years we have revisited all of these stores and in many have advised on the installation of mezzanine floors, both to increase retail and storage space. Most of these mezzanines are bespoke, taking into account the client’s operational requirements.
Oxford Street, London
Perega have recently completed the structural work for Dixons Carphone’s new flagship store on London’s Oxford Street.
The store, which integrates the PC World, Currys and Carphone Warehouse brands, is notable for having the largest digital feature wall on Oxford Street, displaying a range of premium products.
The 1960s building was originally divided into three ground floor retail units with office space at first floor level and Thomasons provided the structural design to merge it into one open space with a two storey frontage and mezzanine level providing 6,000 sq. ft. of trading space and incorporating a new escalator and lift.
With little information available on the structure of this 50-year old building, detailed back-analysis of the frame was required to ensure the integrity of the design.
