Crosfields School is a co-educational independent day school in Reading who were looking to expand their educational provision for children up to 16 years old.
Perega was appointed as civil and structural engineers on the new senior school building which provides nine classrooms, a library, staff areas, and a café with performance space which opens out onto a courtyard area.
The existing school consisted of low-level buildings around courtyards and green spaces, creating a pleasant campus-like feel. The new curved cross laminated timber building replicates this, threading between the existing mature trees. The sustainable materials were chosen for their low embodied carbon as well as their aesthetic qualities internally and externally, harmonising with the surrounding environment whilst providing warm, welcoming learning and socialising spaces.
