30 Berkeley Square, Mayfair

Client: Colorminium

Architect: Aukett Swanke

This commercial building in the heart of Mayfair was refurbished to create a spectacular auction, gallery and office space for contemporary art auctioneers Phillips, and to serve as its flagship European headquarters.

Perega Clear Structures was commissioned by Colorminium to design the glazing elements of this prestigious building.  Structural alterations were carried out to the ground and first floors to create an impressive custom-built two-storey showroom, with glazing as its key feature. Double-height windows, extending to 8 metres, span both floors and were designed without mid-level support to maximise natural daylight flowing into the showroom.

The top floor of the building was re-clad to create new office space and a terrace, and a new steel frame was installed to create a further level. Perega Clear Structures also designed the curtain wall screens at this level – which included curved areas of glazing and an integral brise soleil system – together with glass balustrades and plant screens.

In every element, Perega Clear Structures delivered the exact attention to detail required by the client for this high-level project in a prime location.
